I
once read a great deal of science fiction and found Haint to be up there with a top few...Clarke, Lem, Cherryh,
Le Guin, Stephenson, Dick, Gibson, Herbert... . You created an alternate world from the one we know and
made it believable. You told a harrowing story that was vivid and touching. The resolution with the space vehicle and the
dogs that elected to stay behind was very moving, satisfying and the kind of thing that dogs could/would do. And
throughout the book, the journey into the dog's minds was terrific. It may be that for some
of those poor souls who have had no personal experience with dogs to relate to, the book may initially be difficult.
But they would be the exception. For everyone else, and especially for anyone who has a sense of what a dog is, your
book is a unique and special experience. Many times, reading some of the authors I mentioned above, it took me a while
before the author's voice and vision drew me in. In this case, I was with you from the beginning. I
congratulate you on a truly original and special book and I wish you great success. Sincerely, Robert
